Hi! My name is Isabella Canez. I am a junior at the University of Arizona majoring in Design, Arts, and Practice (Visual Emphasis) with a Minor in Marketing.

My love for design began my senior year of high school, when I had the opportunity to join the Yearbook class. Although I would prefer never to do a high school yearbook again, the class taught me how to look at the world through a designer’s eye and mind.

My sophomore year of college, I created Estrella Oriente, my freelance business for my graphic design, social media, and photography services. It is named after my great-great-grandpa, who immigrated from China to Mexico and owned the first general store in Nogales. He named it Estrella Oriente because it was a blend of both Mexican and Chinese identities that he wanted to highlight in Nogales.

In my free time, I love to do anything creative! My favorite hobbies right now are coloring books, drawing, junk journaling, and reading. I am currently reading Kin by Tayari Jones. I also love collecting smiskis (the little green guy next to “About Me”) and decorating my space with them.
